It’s been around for centuries and it can effectively clean the paint stains, used for the removal of pesticides and sprays from vegetables and fruits and the biggest USP of baking soda is its ability to clean and whiten teeth. These were only some of the uses of baking soda. The Baking soda is a neutralizing agent and can be used to balance the pH value of mouth.

The main reasons why our teeth lose whiteness are; smoking and chewing tobacco, eating fast food with drinks such as cola, coffee or wine and not brushing teeth regularly. These unfriendly teeth practices lead to the deposition of plaque on the surface of teeth and if we don’t brush regularly, this plaque covers all of our teeth and forms solid deposits which would, over time, become so hard that it becomes almost impossible to remove them with ordinary brushing. Not to mention, it provides a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and other germs. This builds up of bacteria and germs are not only dangerous to our teeth but they give birth to a lot of health problems, over time. This can also leads to permanent stains.

Brushing with baking soda for teeth whitening provides the ultimate solution if you are suffering from any of these problems. Though I won’t recommend you to use baking soda on a daily basis, but, brushing once a week with baking soda, would be enough to remove plaque and other stains. The main reasons, why I‘m not recommending you to use it every day is that there are certain minerals present in baking soda, which are abrasive in nature, and it can potential leads to the erosion of the outermost surface of your teeth, that is enamel. Though you can use tooth paste containing baking soda, on a regular basis.

Is there any special type of baking soda for teeth? Not at all, you can go to your grocery or pharmacy store and just ask them to get you a regular baking soda and you are good to go. You will be amazed to know, how cheap this wonderful salt is. Once you look at the price and considering the uses of baking soda, you will feel an urge to use this magical compound regularly and in large amounts, but beware of the above mentioned disadvantages of overly using this product.
